Knight Hood has been out on the mobile scene for some time now, with little sign of slowing down. A turn based, combat heavy title, it manages to do something relatively new whilst simultaneously being about as conventional an RPG as there ever was under its surface.

The Story of Thor (Beyond Oasis)
The first instalment into the Oasis series of RPGs, The Story of Thor (known in America as ‘Beyond Oasis’) was a late release for the Mega Drive that some consider to be Sega’s answer to the ‘Legend of Zelda’ series.
Postknight
Designed with a casual audience in mind, Postknight is the latest title to come from Kurechii, (the studio behind Tiny Guardians) and manages to cater to RPG enthusiasts as well as those looking for a lighter bite of game action.
Witch Spring 2
Kiwi Walks may not be a studio that’s very well known, but in their ‘Witch Spring’ series they’ve managed to capture the essence of gaming on a system like the Sony PSP or Vita, and bring it to the mobile market for iOS and Android.
Warlords
Warlords is in many ways a good example of how far mobile games have come. A hex-based Strategy game with RPG elements that would once have been small a sprite-based 2D title that in the modern market is a huge, sprawling 3D feast for the eyes.
Choices: The Crown and Flame Book 1
Choices is a hub app containing multiple choose your own adventure novels that range at launch between detective, romance and fantasy tales. The Crown and Flame, the fantasy novel in this opening line-up is the subject our our particular attention.
Enyo
Enyo is the name of a lesser-known Greek Goddess of war, sometimes portrayed as an aspect of Ares and responsible for the sacking of cities and the fall of culture. This mobile title puts you in her sandals as you hook, jump and shield bash your way to victory.
Unison League
Social RPGs don’t get any more social than Unison League. It’s one step away from being an MMORPG in many ways. Developed by the studio Perfect Game, it’s an extremely streamlined game of battling, loot collection and playing dress up with your avatar.
Dead Shell
Dead Shell is the newest game to come out of HeroCraft, the studio that brought us ‘Dark Ages’, ‘Tempest’ and ‘Alchemic Maze’. Their first attempt at a RogueLike, this game falls more sincerely into the sub-category of RogueLight, but makes up for what it loses in challenge with an insanely brilliant premise and gameplay hook.
Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius
Having already released a slew of third-party Social RPGs using their IP, ranging from the surprisingly good ‘Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X’ to the horrible cash grab that was ‘Final Fantasy: all the Bravest’, it would seem that Square Enix has finally struck on a formula that works. Despite mixed feelings on ‘Final Fantasy: Record Keepers’, it does raise the question of if the mobile market audience support so many games running simultaneously? Evidently Square thinks it can.
